The Famous (or Infamous) “See Food” Diet

Let’s talk about diets today.

Most people (particularly in the U.S.–where upwards of 75% of us are overweight), have thought about diets or dieting at one time or another, (and probably more frequently than we’d like to admit).

So much so that you, like me, are probably aware of numerous different diets. (I’ve never paid much attention to them, even though I’ve been overweight to some degree most of my life). Let me list a few and you can continue on as long as you like, since there seem to be hundreds.

There are:

  • The Atkins Diet
  • The Low Carb Diet
  • The High Protein Diet
  • The Low Fat Diet
  • The Cabbage Soup Diet
  • The Southbeach Diet

…and on and on. It would take too much time to even count them, let alone list them. However, my favorite (and probably the worst possible one), has always been the “See Food” Diet. You know the one—when you “see food,” you eat it!

It’s probably pretty obvious why I mentioned being overweight most of my life. It’s not all bad, though.

I like lots of good stuff—vegetables like avocados, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, and, of course, the easy ones like corn, peas and carrots. The problem is if any of those are sitting on a table next to a cheeseburger and fries or a large slice of pizza (regardless of type), I will likely “see” only the cheeseburger or pizza.

I’m betting you can relate to that. So the whole dieting issue becomes one of sacrifice or changing our perspectives. If everything you like is the wrong stuff (like so many others like to tell us), the it seems there’s a bunch of pain in the near, dieting future.

I don’t know about you, but I hate sacrifice! Just ain’t in me. So I guess that leaves change.

Now before you envision “the devil in the details” of changing how we look at different foods (and the ones we like most), we’re going to learn how to choose what we like in a form that’s not driving us further beyond the “weight border.” You see, you don’t have to sacrifice at all if you know how to get your body to burn fat instead of storing it.

So next time on this channel, we’ll talk about how we can change perspectives without going to pieces over the sacrifice choice.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time,

Your Time, My Channel,

Les
